What do you mean by the frequency of a sound?Īns: Frequency is determined by the rate of movement of molecules set into motion by the vibrating object. Hence the disturbance travels more quickly. The humid weather consists of water vapours which have molecules comparatively closer to each other. Hence it takes time for the wave to reach its destination. This is because on a normal day the air consists more of gases, where the molecules are far away from each other. Another real-life example of travelling of sound is when we create noise during a rainy or a humid day( more moisture content in the air) we can observe that sound travels much faster in the humid weather condition rather than on a normal day. ![]()
